Shema Divin Profile

Shema Divin

I live in the Southern province.  I was born in 1992.  I was two years old when the genocide happened.  I lost my entire family.

I don’t remember anyone because I was so young.  In 1995, I was adopted by a family, which doesn’t know anything about me.  In 1997, I went to nursery school, and I started primary school in 1998.  In 2006, I was able to start secondary school.  Through my studies, I was also helped by other people because I could not afford the school fees myself.  In 2009, I started my concentration in chemistry, biology and mathematics.  I will finish secondary school in 2012.

My dreams are to finish my studies and help others in need to become educated.  I would like to teach people about unity and to encourage them to have a vision of their future.  That is the best thing to rely on and to help one become an important person.  People should also be patriotic.  If they want to work for their country, they need to develop themselves and the country will then benefit too.

During my entire life, I have had to survive many things, but I also learned many lessons through all these things.  This is why, in the future, I would like to teach youth that, in life, it doesn’t matter what you events you survive.  The only thing that matters is that you have a vision and goals.  You must always do your best and work hard to achieve your goals.  If you do this, you will go far.

I was visiting some friends when I heard about this program.  This program is useful because it helps me through dance and allows me to share my story with others.  All I want from people who would like to help is a scholarship for a university.
